From July 1 to July 9, 2025, 4 new cosmetic ingredients were notified with the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
The technical requirements for the 4 new cosmetic ingredients mentioned above have not been disclosed, and they have not yet entered the safety monitoring period.
In recent years, the growing emphasis on efficacy-driven skincare has brought increased attention to vitamin-based ingredients in cosmetics. Traditional Vitamin K-1, however, is banned under China's Safety Technical Standards for Cosmetic due to its instability and allergenic potential. To address these issues, the notifier, Shandong Guangtongbao Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., developed a structurally optimized derivative Vitamin K-1 Epoxide (INCI name: Phytonadione Epoxide).
As a structurally modified derivative of Vitamin K-1, this ingredient is expected to retain benefits such as strengthening the skin barrier while reducing irritation—meeting the dual demands for safety and efficacy in cosmetic formulations. It is currently listed in both the EU CosIng and the U.S. PCPC, and has already been applied in several efficacy-focused skincare products overseas.
Bletilla sinensis is a rare and endangered orchid native to China, valued for its medicinal properties. Traditional extraction methods may harm wild populations, but using callus tissue allows for sustainable use without damaging natural habitats. Compared to conventional extracts, Bletilla sinensis callus extract may offer different levels of key active compounds, potentially delivering greater skincare benefits and meeting the demand for high-performance, multifunctional cosmetics.
Due to the rarity of the Bletilla genus, its application in cosmetics remains limited. Only a few clean beauty brands, such as LAN and Dr. Plant, have introduced products featuring Bletilla-based ingredients. Among them, LAN embraces orchids as its brand symbol, with Bletilla extracts as a core component in signature products like the LAN Time Essence Oil. Notably, LAN's parent company is the notifier of Bletilla sinensis Callus Extract.

Acetyl Zingerone (AZ) is derived by adding a 2,4-dione side chain—also found in curcumin—to zingerone. This modification enhances stability through increased hydrogen bond chelation while retaining the antioxidant effects of both zingerone and curcumin. Compared to zingerone, Acetyl Zingerone notably upregulates gene expression related to collagen, proteoglycans, and ECM glycoproteins.
Based on its name, the ingredient is presumed to be an amide compound resulting from the reaction between ferulic acid and tripeptide-129.
The notifier, Harbin Voolga Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2017, specializes in the research, development, production, and sales of skincare products. Its product portfolio includes both medical devices and functional skincare products. The company was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in August 2023. Since 2021, Voolga has completed the notification of four new cosmetic ingredients, including β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide and Acetyl Zingerone, among others.
