ZMUni at PCHi 2025: Exploring the Future of Cosmetic Ingredients in China
Publication date:2025-02-28

The China Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) 2025 exhibition, held from February 19-21, 2025 in Guangzhou, concluded successfully, drawing over 30,000 professional attendees and 800 companies from more than 30 countries and regions. The event, a key gathering for the global personal care industry, saw experts from cosmetic ingredients, branding, research, and regulatory fields come together to explore industry trends and future opportunities.

Trends and Innovations: The Future of Cosmetics

At PCHi 2025, key trends in ingredient innovation highlighted both technological advancements and cross-disciplinary integration. Recombinant collagen, enhanced by compound technologies, continues to strengthen its market position, while natural plant extracts and plant exosomes remain popular in product development. Targeted skincare concepts such as mitochondrial anti-aging and cellular-level repair are gaining momentum. Additionally, emotional skincare, which combines neuro-perception and fragrance to create emotional value, and AI-driven targeted delivery systems are emerging as new focal points. The rise of younger consumers experiencing hair loss has also sparked the "haircare meets skincare" trend, driving the development of more sophisticated and refined hair care formulations. As regulations tighten and consumer expectations rise, safety and transparency are becoming increasingly critical.

Overall, the industry is emphasizing "quantifiable efficacy," with a growing demand for personalized solutions and emotional value, steering research towards a more human-centered approach.

Looking Ahead: Accelerating Innovation

On February 6, 2025, China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) announced measures to accelerate cosmetic ingredient innovation, including faster approvals, technical guidance, and synchronized registration of new cosmetic ingredients with related products. These changes are expected to shorten innovation cycles and reduce compliance costs, giving companies a competitive edge in the Chinese market. With these policies in place, businesses are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities, driving technological advancements, ensuring product safety, and achieving successful market outcomes.
