On May 10, 2024, the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) issued a new supplementary testing method: BJH 202402 Determination of Diflurasone Propionate in Cosmetics.

This method outlines the qualitative and quantitative analysis of Diflorasone 17-propionate (CAS No.924726-89-6) and Diflorasone 21-propionate (CAS No. 541502-98-1) in various categories of cosmetics, such as liquid (water, oil), cream and milk, gel, and wax-based products.

Additionally, the document covers various aspects of the testing process, including principles, reagents and materials, equipment requirements, sample preparation and preservation, step-by-step analysis, result calculation, precision and accuracy, as well as the limits of detection and quantification.

Diflurasone propionate, a synthetic corticosteroid, is used in cosmetics for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties to address conditions like eczema and dermatitis.
