In 2021, the total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 44,082.3 billion yuan, an increase of 12.5 percent over the previous year. Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles reached 39,703.7 billion yuan, an increase of 12.9 percent. After deducting price factors, the total retail sales of social consumer goods in 2021 increased by 10.7 percent over the previous year.
By consumption type, the retail sales of goods in 2021 was 39,392.8 billion yuan, an increase of 11.8 percent over the previous year; catering revenue was 4,689.5 billion yuan, an increase of 18.6 percent. In 2021, the national online retail sales reached 13,088.4 billion yuan, an increase of 14.1 percent over the previous year. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods were 10,804.2 billion yuan, an increase of 12.0 percent, accounting for 24.5 percent of the total retail sales of social consumer goods; Among the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and consumer goods increased by 17.8, 8.3 and 12.5 percent respectively.

We can tell from the photo above, in 2021 the total retail sales of cosmetics reached 402.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.0 percent. Among them, in December ,the total retail sales of cosmetics was 34.1 billion yuan, a month-on-month increase of 2.5 percent. Though since the 2nd half of the previous year, the increment of the total retail sales of cosmetics has slowed down, overall, the growth rate of the total retail sales of cosmetics exceeded 14.0 percent, more than the 12% growth rate of the total retail sales of Consumer Goods. Besides, the total retail sales of cosmetics reaches 400 billion yuan for the fist time! In the past 3 years, the total retail sales of cosmetics has risen steadily. From Jan. to Dec. In 2019, the total retail sales reached 299.2 billion yuan. In 2020, the total retail sales was 340 billion yuan. In 2021, it reached 402.6 billion yuan. According to a prospective study forecast by the data statistics company, it’s estimated that in 2025, the total retail sales of cosmetics in China will reach 500 billion yuan!
